Abstract
The 13th International Baltic Conference on Databases and Information Systems was held in Trakai, Lithuania, during July 1-4, 2018. The conference was organized by the Vilnius University, Vilnius Gediminas Technical University, Lithuanian Academy of Sciences, and Lithuanian Computer Society. The conference was preceded by one-day Doctoral Consortium and was ended by the Conference Forum. These proceedings include the papers that were presented at the Baltic DB&IS 2018 co-located events. The Conference Forum papers were accepted after the evaluation process. Each paper was independently reviewed by three different members of the international Program Committee, which consisted of 91 members from 31 countries. Some papers were invited to the Forum as the result of conference papers’ evaluation process (selected from the 45 submitted). The 12 Forum papers presented the authors’ positions, innovative work in progress, and demonstrated innovative tools and applications. The Doctoral Consortium provided an opportunity for PhD students to present their work to a group of mentors and peers from a diverse set of academic and industrial institutions in a relaxed and supportive environment. It also helped to receive constructive feedback on their doctoral research from the field experts. Additionally, it supported building a network with peers and future colleagues. It was accepted 6 papers (8 papers submitted). We were fortunate to have Doctoral Consortium keynote on “Intelligent Knowledge Assessment Systems – Myth or Reality”, by prof. Janis Grundspenkis from Riga Technical University. We are grateful to the reviewers and mentors for their thorough evaluation and support. We thank all authors for their submissions and presentations.
