Abstract
The importance of knowledge to economy and society has been much debated in recent years. In particular, many commentators have linked an increasing level of knowledge in society with economic growth. Knowledge has become most important resource in our life. So, it is very important to know how to measure the knowledge potential in the different states. Different frameworks have been developed by individual countries and international organizations. Unfortunately, there is so far no internationally agreed framework for measuring a Knowledge-based economy. This paper thus aims at reviewing the existing frameworks on knowledge-based economy promulgated by different international organizations. The issues and challenges in developing KBE indicators are also discussed in this article.
