Investigation of perspectives of Lithuanian passenger rolling stock

Abstract

The analysis of the statistical data shows, that JSC "Lithuanian railways" existing passenger rolling stock is approaching the critical moral and technical wear limit. Passenger rolling stock analysis in detail lead us to create three possible rolling stock alternatives. The first alternative- "Doing nothing option", in this case, JSC "Lithuanian railways" will not be doing any traction rolling stock renovation projects. The second alternative proposes "'The new rolling stock option ", that is the company renews traction rolling stock by buying only the new rolling stock. The third alternative offers "The new and modernized rolling stock option", that is the company modernizes the existing passenger rolling stock while buying the new one. Out of three passenger rolling stock renewing alternatives, the best according economic value criteria's would be "The new rolling stock buying and modernization option".
