Abstract
The starting of liquefied petroleum gas engine, when the surrounding temperature is lower that - 4C, is unreliable, because the intensity of the evaporation of a cold fuel in a cold engine is insufficient. In such cases a portable liquefied petroleum gas tank, which has been kept in a heated environment, may be used for starting the engine. The estimation methods of the total gas potentially available are obtained by using mass and heat conservation equations. The calculation results and experiments indicate the possibility to use portable liquefied petroleum gas tanks, which have been kept in a heated environment, for starting liquefied petroleum gas engines in winter time.
