Geležinkelių restruktūrizavimas ir multimodalinių vežimų plėtra
Abstract
The Lithuanian railway system is not adopted to an integration into the European transport system. In the nearest future it is planned to separate financially the infrastructure from the operational activities. The Lithuanian railways will be divided into the following 6 sectors with separate accounts: the sectors of infrastructure, rolling stock property, passenger transportation, freight transportation, administration, economy and development. It is established that the multimodal transport must become one of the strategic priorities of the Lithuanian transport policy. At present there is no specific legislative basis regulating the operational activities of multimodal transport and a very pure technical basis is missing. At the end of the article a multimodal transport development program in Lithuania is proposed.
