The article argues the fact that the car tyre protector is one of the major factors defining the car technical state and having an influence on both the car accident occurrence and environmental pollution. On the basis of a theoretical and practical investigation the main conclusions are supposed to be: 1) the total car accident risk rate in Lithuania is 11.48 % for a wet asphalt, 9.99 % for a dry asphalt, and averagely 10.7 % for both cases; 2) the majority (39 %) of car tyre wearing-off products get into the environment when tyres wear off from 3 to 0 mm of the protector pattern depth. In this period the environmental pollution risk rate is increased 2.92 times in comparison with that of I and II periods.
