Abstract
The purpose of participles in a wide sense (participles, verbai adverbs, and half-participles) is to express the time relations of a sentence, i.e. the time relations of predi-cate, adverbial modifiers, and the other paris of a sentence. These relations can be either synchronous or asynchronous. Both participle in a narrow sense (as well as the half-participle) and predicate express the simultaneous actions of the šame actor. Verbai adverb, in contrary, expresses the action of an actor different to that of the predicate. This is predetermined by the relations of the corresponding grammatical forms and vocabulary. Erroneous combination of the forms and the word meanings provoke the errors in the usage of participles, verbai adverbs, and half-participles. Analysis of the errors and search for the correct grammatical pattems is the objective of this article.
