In Vilnius, like in other similar urbanistic type cities, the air is most of all polluted by motorcars. From 1989 to 1995 the level of motor transport pollution increased from 70 to 85-90 percent, motorcars stock size and structure was changed, the amount of motorcars was increased. The results of investigation which were carried out in summer of 1995 are presented in the article. After estimating the traffic of motor transport, its pollution - CO and NOx emission and ejection in to the atmosphere - was calculated. The investigation methods and computer programs used for calculating the emission and ejection are described. The amount of motorcars' pollution and its distribution are represented graphically in the maps of Vilnius city. Pollution ejection maps of the environment of some crossroads’ are also presented.
