The effect of thermal pollution of the fauna of water coolers
Abstract
It is common knowledge that the aggravation of situation in the coolers of thermal power industry has been observed when the permissive quantity of thermal bading in water reservoirs being exceeded. The total quantity of species in zoo plankton has decreased at the expense of the loss of stenothermal, mesothermal and mesobiontic species. The core of zooplanktocenosis has changed: eurythermal and eurybiontic species have became predominant ones. One maximum was characteristic of the dynamics of zooplankton quantity (spring-summer season), while two maxima were characteristic of other water reservoirs of natural thermal regime. Variations in the quantity and biomass of zooplankton, not characteristic of the water reservoirs of natural thermal regime, are indicative of the absence of sufficient stability in zooplanktocenosis. The accession processes occur with a certain delay in time required for the change of no less than one generation of planktons.
