The natural phone acidity of precipitation is roughly about 5,6 pH. But during the combustion of fossil fuel (cool, oil and natural gas) SO2 and SO3 are formed. SO3 changes rapidly into H2SO4, which in turn may form sulfates. Sulfate formation and acid rain are now observed in the industrial and intensive traffic areas and also downwind them. The samples of snow taken in Vilnius with the help of pupils of Vilnius high school No.39 were analyzed. The level of acidity and the concentration of sulfates was determined and the correlation between these parameters was established.
