The application of mechatronics for machines accuracy improvement

Abstract

This article deals with the possibilities of. using the mechatronic means for the accuracy improvement of. metal cutting machines, co - ordinate measuring machines, robots, etc. The systematic and random error correction of raster scales, encoders and the fina1 3D position correction of a cutting instrument or a touch probe is one discussed. The technical solutions with the application of piezoelectric materials for smart probes and piezoactuators are given.
