Abstract
The level road traffic safety in Lithuania is very low. It is defined, that road accidents are concentrated on separate road links, where people are killed and injured continually. Alter detailed statistic analysis 12 road links with 71 km total length were determinated. Within the period of 1989 - 1992 115 persons were killed and 443 persons were injured on these road links. The conclusion is as follows: in one kilometre of road length 1.62 persons are killed and 6.1 person is injured. To reduce the number of road accidents on dangerous road links speed limitations must be set us as well as technical reconstruction of roads must be carried out.
