The specular reflection spectra of copper velour electroplates were studied in the region of 2.5 - 25 m m. The growth of specular reflection coefficient from ~ 0.02 to ~ 0.09 was observed with increasing the wavelength of radiation indicating a decrease of diffuse scattering of light by rough surfaces of velour coatings. The experimental data were analysed on the basis of modeled specular reflection spectra for a random rough surface with a saw-tooth profile of surface irregularities. From the comparison of the spectroscopical data with the calculations, the information on the dimensions of surface irregularities was obtained. Some correlation between the dimensions of surface crystallites and velour effect was observed.
