The emergence and evolution of the concept of the supply chain management

Abstract

The article discusses some theoretical approaches to supply chain management. The origins of supply chain concept can be traced in manufacturing. Lean manufacturing and agile processes represent the shift in the supply chain management thinking. Modern supply chain concept bases on integration and network co-operation issues. IMP network theory and value-laden system model were taken as the theoretical background to describe the inter-organisational relationships within the supply chain context.
