The article analyses composting possibilities of excess anaerobic sludge from ethanol production wastewater treatment facilities when substrata of a local origin are applied. Excess anaerobic sludge supplied by a JSC (AB) SEMA from its anaerobic wastewater treatment facilities was investigated. Considering the properties of anaerobic sludge as well as the requirements for composting, three kinds of substrata were chosen: peat, sawdust and straw. Passive aeration was applied for composting. The investigation was carried out using samples with five ratios of compost substrata. In this article the dynamics of changes in temperature, the carbon and nitrogen ratio and other agrochemical indices of composted samples are presented. [...].
