dc.description.abstractThe article analyses composting possibilities of excess anaerobic sludge from ethanol production wastewater treatment facilities when substrata of a local origin are applied. Excess anaerobic sludge supplied by a JSC (AB) SEMA from its anaerobic wastewater treatment facilities was investigated. Considering the properties of anaerobic sludge as well as the requirements for composting, three kinds of substrata were chosen: peat, sawdust and straw. Passive aeration was applied for composting. The investigation was carried out using samples with five ratios of compost substrata.
