Free surface flow modelling by fem and fvm in applications of environmental engineering
Abstract
Free surfaces and moving interfaces encountered in environmental engineering are modelled by the finite element method and finite volume method. The free surface formulation is approached in several different ways. In the Lagrangian approach the prediction-correction method updates locations of free surfaces. The surface height method describes moving meshes in the Arbitrary Lagrange-Eulerian formulation, while the level set method traces moving interfaces in the purely Eulerian description. [...].
