Lietuvai integruojantis į Europos Sąjungą (ES) svarbu nustatyti šio proceso pasekmes socialinėms, ekonominėms ir kitoms sritims. Viena iš prioritetinių sričių yra žmonių sauga ir sveikata darbe. Šis mokslo darbas yra pirmasis tiriant ES saugos ir sveikatos darbe teisės aktų poveikį Lietuvos ūkiui. ES direktyvos 98/24/EC "Dėl darbuotojų saugos ir sveikatos apsaugos nuo pavojų darbe, susijusių su cheminėmis medžiagomis" (keturiolikta specialioji direktyva, kuri remiasi direktyvos 89/391/EEC 16 str. 1 dalimi) įgyvendinimo pasekmių tyrimas atliktas pagal Socialinės apsaugos ir darbo ministerijos paskelbtą konkursą. Tyrimui naudoti statistiniai analitiniai, apklausos, analizes, analogijų, finansinis ataskaitų apibendrinimų ir kiti mokslinio tyrimo metodai. Tyrimo eigoje nustatytos įmonių finansines išlaidos, išlaidos valstybiniame lygmenyje, teigiamas direktyvos poveikis, parengtos rekomendacijos direktyvos nuostatoms taikyti gerinant saugq ir sveikatą darbe. In the process of integration to the European Union it is important for Lithuania to foresee the consequences of the influence to social, economical and other areas. Safety and health protection at work is one of the priority areas. This is the first work having investigated the influence of EU legal statements of labour safety and health protection to the Lithuanian economy. Ministry of Labour Safety and Social Security announced a tender for the investigation of realisation of consequences of EU Directives 98/24/EC "For the employees' safety and health protection from dangers, caused by hazardous chemical materials" (14th special Directive, based on Directive 89/391/EEC, article 16 , part 1) . Statistical-analytical methods have been used for the investigation, as well as the methods of inquest, analysis, analogies and financial account summarising. Financial expenses of enterprises have been fixed in the process of investigation as well as different state level expenses, positive influence of the directive, recommendations prepared for the Directive regulations for improvement of the safety and health protection at work.
