New category of access networks – Customer Premises Local Area Network (CP LAN) – is analyzed. Customers themselves build these networks. CP LAN’s could be helpful in future network development. Few network topologies could be used for realization of CP LAN’s. This article examines hierarchical chains of point-to-multipoint radio systems, realized by equipment working according to IEEE 802.11b protocol. The relation between lengths of transmitted packets and the overall throughput of chain and the data delay in chain were determined.
