Numerical experiments with FE remeshing technique in large displacement analysis

Abstract
In this paper the numerical experiments with finite element (FE) remeshing technique in large displacement analysis are presented. By solving problems with large displacements the FE mesh distortion can occur. Large distortions of FE mesh lead to the accumulation of additional errors or even to the failure of simulation which is a consequence of ill - conditioned equations. In the present study, the previously developed FE remeshing technique is applied for the simulation of large displacement problems. The presented cavity expansion and cone penetration problems illustrate qualitative and quantitative aspects of the FE remeshing.
