Peculiarities of application of the sinusoidal test signal for measurements of the effective number of bits (ENOB) of analog-to-digital converters (ADC) are considered. It is shown that, when quantizing the sinusoidal signal of the sound frequency range by the ideal ADC, the quantization error distribution at a rather large number of samples becomes independent of the signal to quantization frequency ratio, while the distribution form differs from the uniform probability law. Examples of the computer audio system application are presented.
