Transportation is an essential part of our everyday lives. If we want Europe to be an attractive place to invest, work and live in there is need to improve the safety of the infrastructure. The BALTRIS project puts focus to the infrastructure of the road network. Enhanced knowledge and awareness of the importance of road infrastructure safety among national authorities, advisers, scientists. One of the key pillars for road safety is the road infrastructure. By improving the road safety we can make a difference; saving lives, health and achieved. Road safety management procedures are now an integral part of the planning, designing, and maintenance process in the BALTRIS states. Road safety management procedures were tested on international trainings and developed capacity could be continuously used for better road infrastructure safety management in the Baltic Sea Region and European Union. All the prepared procedures could be used and applied by national governments, administrations and local governments as well as local auditors and designers. Future road safety management should be an ongoing cooperation between authorities and point of view. This enables the best possibilities to approach Vision Zero, improving safety for all road users considering also the economical and environmental issues.
