Feasibility study of using motor-rail cars on Lithuanian railways
Abstract
When passenger transportation by railway brings losses, the main expenses (about 60%) may be attributed to fuel costs. To reduce the losses, diesel locomotives should be replaced with motor-rail cars. Before starting to use motor-rail cars, a feasibility study concerning the state of the available technical means had been made.
