Abstract
This article analyzes and discloses the situation of electronic public services in Lithuania. The great attention is to be put on the information technologies content, public administration services and information of high importance and relevance to people. The Government of the Republic of Lithuania has approved the Strategy on information society development in which the key operations of state institutions are scheduled while implementing tasks, goals and priorities stated in Conceptual framework of the national information society development in Lithuania. The low number of internet users in Lithuania is still stopping the development of electronic public services. On another hand, public institutions are rather reluctant to implement electronic public services and pay too little attention to their internet websites. It is a great need to encourage state institutions in all the possible ways to improve the quality of internet information provided to the public and communication in the internet, also to develop electronic public services. The use of modern information technologies in the public sector creates prerequisites for the authorities to act in a transparent and open way also to engage the population into the important decision-making process. One of the key objectives of the e.government development is to form the society of active citizens.
