Application of modern welding methods and materials for joining ferrous and non-ferrous metals and their alloys
Abstract
High quality welded joints can be achieved after completion of the design of welding joints as well as development of computational modeling of thermal and strain processes and application of the suitable welding method. Big variety of steel and non-ferrous metallic materials and the dynamic of changes in the market of new materials force to seek for modern technological decisions that ensure higher quality of the welding. The welding sources created in the Department of Materials Science and Welding can be applied for production of large structures (ships, large structures) produced from ferrous and non-ferrous metallic materials and in the conditions where welding operations should not disturb the radio communication (e.g. in going ships). The researchers at the Department create special technologies for welding steel and non-ferrous metals and perform modelling of welding stresses and strains by the finite elements method.
