Abstract
The objective of the paper is to investigate the behaviour and present the analytical expressions for calculation of flexible cables with supports at different level The flexible cable is subjected to uniformly distributed load. The equilibrium equations for this type of cables arc compound taking into account the component of distributed load, which acts along the line going through cable supports (along chord) The analytical expressions for calculations of dcformable axis curve, tension force and reactions a; supports arc presented The deformation compatibility equations including geometrical non::;;eantics used to obtain unknowns arc presented too. In this paper it is also presented approximate analysis of flexible inclined cable taking into account the component of distributed load, which acts along the line going trough cable supports The simple analytical expressions for displacement and forces are obtained results obtained During the numerical testing it is obtained that difference between the by approximate and exact methods results is less than 5% for angle cf inclination φ≤ 50* and cable initial sag f < 1/10.
