Influence of object view angle to 3D stereo reconstruction
Abstract
The problem of 3D object reconstruction is viewed from environment (scene) analysis perspective. The main issue of presented research concerns the accuracy of feature point detection and matching procedures used for 3D reconstruction, when two cameras are employed. The influence of object observation angle to feature point detection and matching procedures based on correlation techniques is studied. The analysis of stereo field of view is given. Simulation based investigation results are presented. It is shown that the precision of 3D reconstruction can be increased reducing the angle between camera planes. This also reduces the uncertainty area, caused by uncontrollable camera movements. Thus makes important to consider the influence of object view angle during the first stages of creation of scene analysis system.
