The investigation of novel design piezoelectric actuator based on researches of compound ultrasonic systems called "shaking beam" is presented in the paper. Actuator can move a body in any direction in the plane and rotate as well. Numerical modeling of the actuator is done based on finite element method and includes modal analysis and harmonic response analysis of the actuator. The trajectories of contact core movements under different excitation schemes are calculated and slider movement characteristics are defined. A prototype actuator was made and the experimental outcomes of the oscillation forms of working surfaces of the actuactor are given. Results of the numerical and experimental research are compared.eng
