Abstract

Runovič The new Apranga Group administrative and logistics centre continues the dominating building line of large objects on Ukmerges Street, situated a little further away from where they are most densely concentrated. In some sense acting as a buffer between residential buildings and an active road, the building undoubtedly dominates its environment. The complex comprises the previously mentioned buildings of two different purposes, and, in volumetric terms, provides a visual effect of lightness when looking from the entrance to the City of Vilnius. First you are met by the administrative building, which stands on elegant columns, then an accentuated translucent glass volume, after which the building finally settles down on the ground, and after a small pause, there is the black logistics centre. The increasingly massive complex ends with the logistics centre, which manages to look smaller than it actually is to somebody driving into the city. The complex, laid out within the property in a rational and well thought-out manner, is easily noticeable from the side of Ukmerges Street thanks to its accentuated clean white volume, and gives the impression of a substantial object. The reservedly and convincingly activated reflection of seasonality in the architecture suggests that the architects achieved their goals and created and object that satisfied the demanding client.
