Abstract
Traditionally we ideate that military activity and environmentalism are two antagonistic poles. From the first view it looks it is the true. We really have large number of samples whose backgrounds this opinion. When the Soviet army left Lithuania in 1993, the inventory of environmental situation shows 2743 sources of the actual pollution in the former military lands. Only the 14% of all military bases did not contain pollution sources. It is big figures and they shows that in the Soviet period environmental point of view was strange for army commanders. Therefore, the specific of activity, special status of the strong security on those sites and large occupied territories, especially on military training grounds, supported the formation the specific seminatural and natural habitats with big number of valuable biodiversity, large then on surrounding regions. Of course, present Lithuanian army is much more controlled from government and public. That determinate, that the environmental problems currently are much more important then any before. Certainly during the military activity specific, the some environmental incidents and problems exist till now, but being the part of NATO forces and inside the European Union our military forces should implement all environmental requirements in its activity. Therefore everyone military base and especially the military training grounds should prepare the base management plane with special attention on solution of environmental problems. This report is oriented to present the strides and problems of Lithuanian army solving the environmental conflicts.
