Possibilities of applying the Microwave Office package to the investigation of the helical delay system properties have been investigated. Models of planar helical systems (HS) of various types, developed using the Microwave Office internal graphical editor, are presented. It is shown that a helical electrode of expanded rectangle cross-section can be modeled by a multilayer structure formed of conductor and dielectric layers. The simplified and basic schemes of switching-on into the signal channel of HS with an external shield are suggested. These schemes allow investigation of the amplitude-frequency response and phase-frequency response of the system, the frequency dependences of phase delay time, input and wave resistances, wave resistances of the coaxial helical system for even and odd waves.eng
