Volumes of freight flows on east — west direction in Lithuania are constantly increasing. It is expected that in the nearest future these volumes will maintain raising tendencies. However other countries in the Baltic Sea region for many years are trying to persuade, that main freight flows in the region bypass Lithuania. Such situation automatically restricts its chance of participation in sustainable intermodal transport chains development and hampers development of country economy. This paper analyses Lithuanian possibilities to become key player in distribution of freight flows in the BSR having east-west direction, and provides possible means to reach tins desirable goal.eng
