dc.description.abstractEducation and research are among the most important issues in every country, as only educated society develops its prosperity. In order to meet society's needs, education and research have to be developed. After the independence was gained in 1991, higher education in Lithuania was reformed in 2000 and 2009. The latest reform intended to change higher education funding system, management of higher schools and attitude towards the improvement of study quality. As the activities of higher schools depend on the State subsidies and number of students, i.e. funding, it is very important to reach good admission results. This article deals with the main principles of higher education reform in Lithuania and how the situation has changed in the field of admission to Lithuanian higher schools, including Vilnius Gediminas Technical University.eng
