| dc.description.abstract | Skid resistance is one of the major road pavement characteristics, which determines the friction between the road surface and vehicle tire. It is a crucial road surface characteristic to ensure sufficient road safety. The article gives a study of the parameters influencing skid resistance. Number of different methods and devices which are currently being used in practice to measure skid resistance both in the laboratory and in-situ in different countries were overviewed in this paper. As a result of the evaluation of skid resistance characteristics and measurement methods, the paper provides recommendations for skid resistance measurement suitability and applicability for Lithuanian road network. | eng |
