Doc. dr. Julius Griškevičius: „Biomechanika – mažiau kraujuojanti medicina“
Abstract
When Head of the Department of Biomechanics, Associate Professor, Doctor Julius Griškevičius, has got free time from lectures, he takes his car and visits hospitals. “In carrying out investigations, very often I am communicating with doctors, because after all, biomechanics is the same medicine, only with less blood. What is a bio mechanic? It’s not just a mathematician, physicist, and a connoisseur of human anatomy,” - says the scientist, who noticed an interesting trend in the medicine lately – the individualisation of medicine, to which engineers from different areas are increasingly contributing. Associate Professor Julius Griškevičius is currently seeking to develop a diagnostic system for Parkinson’s disease. Medicine, according to the researcher, is looking forward to much more answers to be answered by other professionals in biomechanics. For example, technology of consolidation of an implant to the human bone. “We communicate with our former graduates, selling these implants in Lithuanian hospitals. They assure us that if we create a bone cement of similar properties to the natural human bone, the Nobel Prize will be guaranteed for us”, - the scientist is joking.
