The Institute of Geodesy of Vilnius Technical University carried out campaigns in this agreement with the State Department of Surveying and Mapping and State Department of Geology for the determination of the Lithuanian territory geoid in 1994. There were prepared gravity data of the terrain, Baltic Sea and the Kursiu lagoon, totally about 12000 points, and DTM with a grid of 1 km. The average density of the gravity data is 1 point per 5 sq. km. The sources of the gravity data were the gravimetric maps at the scale of 1:200000 and catalogues of the gravity points. The gravity data used are of the period of 1954-1974. The GPS campaign was organised for positioning of the 40 precise benchmarks of the levelling network. Additionaly the data of more than 1100 GPS stations from the campaigns of the local geodetic networks connection were prepared. The main aim of these works was to determine the geoid in the Lithunian area. All the data were transferred to the data base of the Nordic Geodetic Commission (NKG). The geoid calculations were processed by NKG Working Group for geoid determination (Mr. R.Forsberg). The geoid of Lithuania fit at the 8 cm level was obtained.
