Abstract
The effect of grain size of the chamotte component on the setting time of cement-chamotte pastes is studied and specific features of the hydration of Gorkal-70 cement are discussed. The larger the chamotte grain size, the longer the initial set time and the shorter the final set time, that is, the shorter the time span between the two. The chamotte microfiller sets favorable conditions for an exothermic effect with a higher temperature as compared to a chamotte of larger grain fraction; however, the exothermic reaction takes a longer time to reach a maximum. In the cement stone with chamotte microfiller., the major product of cement hydration is CAH(10), and in the cement stone with chamotte sand, C(2)AH(8).
