Architektūra ir kontekstai 2019. Apleistų pramonės teritorijų konversija Šefilde

Abstract

XXI amžius kelia daugybę iššūkių, kurie įvairių sričių specialistus verčia peržengti „komforto zonos“ ribas. 2019 m. prasidėjęs naujas vientisųjų Architektūros studijų programos modulis „Architektūra ir kontekstai“ studentams suteikia galimybę išgyventi netikėtas patirtis, kurios gali atsirasti nepažintuose kultūriniuose, socialiniuose, geografiniuose kontekstuose. Kursinio projekto metu vykstama į kokią nors užsienio šalį ir projektas rengiamas nepažįstamame mieste. Studentai taip pat turi galimybę pasirinkti alternatyvą – kursinį projektą rengti arba Architektūros, arba Urbanistikos katedroje. Knygoje pristatoma Urbanistikos katedros kuruojamo modulio metodinė medžiaga, skirta urbanistinio projektavimo etapams, principams ir metodams apžvelgti. Leidinys iliustruojamas 2019–2020 mokslo metais rudens semestre Šefilde rengtu projektu – pateikiamos išvykos akimirkos, atliktos pasirinktos teritorijos urbanistinės analizės, visų studentų bendrai sukurta teritorijos formavimo urbanistinė architektūrinė koncepcija, 14 detalizuotų koncepcijos fragmentų ir galutinis projekto pristatymas. Leidinys skirtas ketvirto kurso architektūros studentams, tačiau sudominti turėtų ir jaunesnius bei ne tik architektūrą studijuojančius. Kitų specialybių studentus ir specialistus taip pat turėtų suintriguoti iššūkis ir patiems pasinerti į nepažintus pasaulius.

The 21st century brings with it many challenges forcing professionals of various fields to step outside their comfort zone. 2019 saw launching of a new course of the integrated architectural studies programme – “Architecture and contexts”, which offers to students a possibility to immerse in new experiences in unfamiliar cultural, social and geographical contexts. Completion of a course project includes a trip to a foreign country; the project is based on a territory in an unfamiliar city. Students may choose under supervision of which Department they would implement their project – the Department of Architecture or the Department of Urban Design. This publication presents the methodology of the course curated by the Department of Urban Design setting out the stages, principles and methods of urban design. It also includes a presentation of the project carried out in Sheffield, UK, in the autumn semester of 2019-20 academic year, consisting of photos of the trip, urban analyses of the chosen territory, an urban architectural concept of the development of the territory drawn jointly by the team of students, 14 detailed fragments of the concept, and the final presentation of the project. Target audience of this publication is the 4th year students of architecture but it may also be of interest to younger students and students of other professions. Those who study and work in other fields might be intrigued by the challenging idea of embarking on a journey to undiscovered worlds.
