On 11 March 1990, the Supreme Council of the Republic of Lithuania adopted an Act on the Restoration of an Independent State of Lithuania. It is one of the most significant days in the history of Lithuania and gives us food for thought about the core values: state, nation, freedom and independence. Thirty years is sufficient period to be able to assess who we are, where we are and where we are going. During those thirty years we have been building the statehood, the economics of the country, the new education system, focused on modernisation of universities, nurtured democratic relations, and have made a tremendous leap forward. This period has shown that everything is possible if we act together, share a vision, have clear goals and implement them together. The thirty years have demonstrated that, today, we are a modern country.
