The bond characteristic of reinforcing bars is one of the most critical issues in the design of reinforced concrete structures. The behaviour of reinforced concrete structures depends on the bond between reinforcement and concrete. In particular the bond is important for an effective utilization of the reinforcement properties of pre-stressed as well as non-pre-stressed concrete structures. This paper presents the outcomes of an experimentally based research investigation on the bond strength of reinforced concrete C 50/60. Pull-out tests were carried out after different times of hardening in order to detect the bond development in the concrete specimens with respect to the time-dependent behaviour. Further, the influence of pre-stressed and non-pre-stressed reinforcement was investigated.eng
