Abstract
An analysis is made of the structure and phase composition of the alumosilicate refractory of a fractured lining in a power-plant boiler operated on a biofuel. The analysis is performed using scanning electron microscopy, x-ray probe microanalysis, and x-ray phase analysis. Study of the changes in microstructure and phase composition that took place established the most probable mechanism of fracture of the refractory.
