dc.description.abstractThe article examines the possibilities of development of the freight train traffic of increased length and mass and examines the experience of Lithuania and foreign countries in this field. The main freight transport directions of the Lithuanian railways were analysed, and the maximum permissible weight and maximum permissible length of the freight train on the railway line Kena–Klaipeda were evaluated. A comparative analysis of fuel consumption was performed, and conclusions were presented.eng
