Abstract
Passengers living in remote areas should prioritise public transport over private cars, which increase congestion, parking and environmental problems. In order to achieve this goal, public transport must be accessible to every inhabitant of the region. The development of a regional public transport system must provide for balanced access to regional public transport stations/stops and the frequency of public transport routes to satisfy the needs of passengers. This article aims to analyse the serious public transport accessibility situation in Lithuanian regions and to develop a methodology for the setting regions where public transport is completely inefficient and where alternatives to public transport should be explored.
