The article provides an analysis of the development of railway transportation in the context of intermodal transportation, logistics and transport corridors. Attention is drawn to essential provisions of the documentation of the European Union and the Republic of Lithuania, defining the trends of Lithuanian railways sector development, the importance of intermodal transportation, logistics and transport corridors for the development of freight transportation by railway transport is emphasized.
