Abstract
This paper presents the investigation of hemodynamics of the flow through aortic valve and the numerical simulation of the mechanical behavior of valve leaflets. Transient pulsatile flow of viscous and incompressible liquid is described by differential Navier-Stokes equations. The flow domain is discretised by the finite volumes taking into account the patient-specific geometry of aortic valve. The finite element method is employed for mechanical analysis of valve leaflets. Velocity and pressure fields are examined as well as equivalent (von-Mises) stresses. Numerical computations were performed by using ANSYS software.
