Airfoils for sailplanes
Abstract
This paper presents the results of wing section design for a high performance sailplane. A short history of airfoil design for sailplanes in Europe and in Lithuania is presented. Airfoils for sailplane LAK-17a were designed using the Eppler program system. The sailplane was precisely tested in free flight and showed good results. The wing airfoils for the sailplane LAK-17b were designed using a new airfoil conception. The calculated comparison shows a drag reduction of the new airfoils.
