The paper presents the study of a weld check for defects and weld quality processes on purpose to computerize them. Weld quality control subsystem of mechanical equipment monitoring information system is developed. Basic concepts of the intelligent information subsystem for weld quality control in refineries were briefly introduced in the paper. Weld quality control intelligent subsystem is under development now. An implementation of such subsystem for the weld quality control is one advantageous way. The production rules of the knowledge based system that can be part of the weld quality control subsystem can be changed without any programmer help. It lets to improve the testing process speed, reliability and flexibility under the conditions when the norms and standards are changing by the influence from outside and can be frequently changed by the opera tor also.
