The investigation of open cylindrical multilayer waveguides, analysis of the propagation constant and distribution of electromagnetic fields of waveguides filled with biological tissue are presented in this paper. The investigation is conducted using the Maxwell’s equations, coupled mode and partial area methods. The dependencies of complex propagation constant of EM waves of waveguides filled with biological tissue are presented as a result of investigation. The results showed that the highest electromagnetic waves attenuation of the main mode is received, when the concentration of glucose in the blood plasma is equal to 4000 mg/dl. The open cylindrical multilayer waveguides filled with biological tissue could be used for detection of glucose changes in human blood.
