Abstract
A system of higher education in Lithuania embraces two sectors, represented by university and non-university higher institutions (colleges). Universities offer a three-level system of studies leading to bachelor's, Master's and Doctoral degrees. The main problem facing the Ministry of Education and Science in Lithuania is the integration of the university and non-university sectors of education into a single system. Universities have taken the initiative by introducing the so-called levelling studies for college graduates. Recently, a scheme has been offered that allows any college graduate to take a course of university studies leading to a Master's degree.
