In this paper, the authors analyse the integration of an Airlines Transport Pilot Licence (ATPL) theory course modules into university engineering study programmes. Some difficulties arise in the realisation of this process because of the need to integrate the requirements of aviation authorities and state regulations for state university level programmes. Additional problems emerge if not only the lists of the required subjects are taken into account, but also their basic contents and the amount of modules. These problems are analysed in the paper using the examples of radio navigation and radiolocation modules content development dealing with the progress of satellite technologies. The generalised structure of a university level engineering study programme with the integration of ATPL theory course requirements is also discussed and the advantages of such integration presented.
